INFECTIOUS DISEASE Predictors of sub-clinical enterovirus infections in infants: a prospective cohort study
نویسندگان
چکیده
Methods A prospective observational study was carried out on a populationbased cohort of 639 Norwegian infants aged 3–12 months. The outcome was enterovirus RNA measured in monthly stool samples. Data on underlying determinants, such as dietary feeding and household factors, were reported in parental questionnaires. Multivariable logistic regression was performed to allow for common confounders. Statistical analyses were performed by GLLAMM using Stata 9.2, which corrects for subject-specific random effects.

Enterovirus 71 Maternal Antibodies in Infants, Taiwan
Enterovirus 71 (EV71) causes life-threatening disease outbreaks in young children in Asia. This cohort study was conducted to understand the dynamics of maternal EV71 antibodies in Taiwanese young infants. Approximately 50% of neonates had detectable EV71 neutralizing antibodies, which declined to almost undetectable levels by 6 months of age.

Concerns about increasing bacterial resistance to vancomycin, have caused the adult treatment guidelines to recommend higher trough concentrations based on the type and location of infectious disease. Although these recommendations are not specific to children, the values can be extrapolated. This prospective study was designed to evaluate efficacy of current vancomycin dosing recommendations t...

متن کاملDiagnosis of enterovirus infection in the first 2 months of life by real-time polymerase chain reaction.
During summer and fall, enterovirus infections are responsible for a considerable proportion of hospitalizations of young infants. We prospectively studied the incidence of enterovirus infections via real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR) in blood, feces, and cerebrospinal fluid samples from infants <or=60 days old who had received a clinical diagnosis of sepsis. Forty-five patients were inc...
